That, I don't mind as much - I used to pay people to come into my house and rummage through it (housekeepers, home health aides, nurses....) - I'm pretty sure I know the path she took (and yes, I'm pretty certain this was a SHE), but I won't be certain for a while.

Nothing I can't replace or live without - and just stupid opportunity. We'll be just that bit more vigilant, but still. Drat.

There's nothing to take pictures of. I got home, asked Jim how the charger for the Roomba (which we haven't used YET) got on the bed and he said he hadn't put it there...and I said I hadn't put it there...and gee, he said, the screen was off the window in the dining room and the window was open...and I said GEEEEE.

And called the cops. And started looking for what was missing.

This is now three house fires and now three burglaries. It's just stuff.

The cats are fine, we're fine and I'm out a perfectly good afternoon.

I grew up in a house that burned down to the ground, twice. Then had a house fire of my own.

Then Mom's house was burglarized twice.

It's just stuff - and I have no illusions.

Someone got lucky - and we had our guard down. Not much more to tell.

They didn't mean us harm. I mean, they could have trashed the place and didn't. What was of interest? Replaceable.

It's a bit of a mystery and curious as a study - but a far cry from anything I would consider a violation. Someone not where they should have been - and knew it. And we as much left the method standing there wide open to be taken advantage of.

That, I can do something to make sure doesn't happen again.

Oh damn, I'm sorry. I've had that happen and it feels weird. I'm glad not more was missing and that all cats are home safe.
