I googled older brother. Then got curious and did an Intellus search - then, for kicks and giggles, did one on me.

UH.

Some of those people, who aren't even speaking to me? Intellus seems to think they live with me. Share my address. Stuff like that.

I'm going to chat it up with Jim tonight, but watch me get an Intellus account just to find out what the heck is going on.

Well, that would be a good reason to place a phone call, at least.

UGH.

Yup, but you know something? They registered the wrong spelling too and assigned it to the same IP for DNS purposes. They ain't dumb!

If Intelius is full of errors, what service do you recommend for background searches. I'm in the market for either hiring a private detective or doing some pretty intensive background searching. What would you recommend?

Clever monkeys. Too bad their data collection wasn't as clever. My records are all garbage.

It *does* explain how I started getting collection agency calls for my niece....

It's garbage, sure. But someone is using it.

Try contacting Bastard Nation - and ask them. (They're the ones who have to do searches based on the merest of information, since as adoptees, they have no rights to their own birth certificates or other information on their genetic parents.)

I'm completely in their camp, BTW. Everyone has the biological right to know their genetic history - if it can be learned.

Some collection agencies have used it. I now know why I was getting phone calls from collection agencies my niece had wrapped herself up in.

Lexus Nexis is another online public information search engine, and due to their clientele being attorneys etc. their stuff has to be a little more reliable, but they charge. Also, very old info will continue to show up, and sometimes it's hard to tell that it's ancient.
