Yup, that's crossed my mind.
Oct. 23rd, 2007 03:33 pmDid I Steal My Daughter? The Tribulations of Global Adoption. From the unmistakeable Mother Jones magazine's website.
This story is from a couple who adopted from Guatemala; there are significant differences in what you can expect from your experience.
But I love the voice this is written in.
And I plan to keep as much as I can get on my daughter's history as I can - I had not been aware that the China adoptions had been of abandoned children until I actually attended classes. Orphans, my butt.

Date: 2007-10-23 11:40 pm (UTC)This reminded me of the time when my family and I lived in Thailand. I was an only child at the time (now oldest of 6) and about a year old. My parents were approached by a mother with an infant boy (same age as myself) who had begged them to adopt him because she was too poor to feed him. My parents slept on the idea and the next day when they decided to go ahead with the adoption the mother had already given the baby boy to someone else. I always wondered how life would have been different with an adopted brother.
