1. Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew - yup, off the recommended reading list, and obviously so.

What I didn't expect, was how many times I stopped reading and sat there thinking for half an hour at a time. 220 pages, done with an economy that I find personally amazing - not a word wasted.

I lost a parent before I was seven; so much of this applied to my own experience it was both heartening and disquieting.

As one who was adopted by a step parent, and who lost a parent at a young age, and as one who plans to adopt, I'll have to check this out.
