Insanely busy week at work. Just the way I like them - it makes for very tired Donna at the end of the day, but at least I feel like I earned my paycheck.

I need more knowledge of FTP (and all the securing flavors it can come in), SQL and how to convince my higher ups that I need a title change. Not more money. A title change. Because the one I have is entry-level and implies two years experience and a high school diploma.

Psh. AS IF.

Now, I didn't go to college to do this job...but I have over ten years in EDI now, thank you very much. That's to start.

My coworkers think I write documentation very well - which is good. At least that talent isn't going to waste.

Riddle me this, friends list.

I've mentioned the older brother with The Wife.

Said older sibling came down over younger brother's birthday weekend via plane, MIL and MIL's car - to surprise my Mother with a visit. As a gift from his kids and wife.

Younger brother knew about it. Didn't say a thing to me or Sis. Probably was asked not to. Didn't tell his daughter or his grandson (who were called over when he showed up and all was well, but-). Mom told me after the fact.

*confused*

I think I'm supposed to be insulted. Check me on this, would you?

Only thing I've asked for is a phone call if he has anything he'd like to take me to task for. So far, I've gotten nothing on top of nothing. Which, is par for the course - unfortunately. He (and his wife) have Issues with Sis...and now me, it looks like.

I got real scary all of a sudden. Or maybe I'm just female and untrustworthy. A sycophant of my sister's, maybe. Consider that older brother has a wife, three sons, three grandsons...and one granddaughter and daughter-in-law where he is. The women are certainly outnumbered...and the ones there (past the little, and I understand she's a handful), may not be the easiest people to deal with. I don't have a clue.

Conjecture born and raised in a vacuum.

Weird is the word I used for all the hoopla. Completely unnecessary is also apt.

He's gotta do what he feels comfortable with. My real concern is that this will probably not be addressed until Mom's funeral...and wouldn't THAT suck?

I'm still waiting to hear from the contractor on what they think I ought to do with the house. I just hope I can find a way to fund whatever it is.

Jim has just about worn out the Star Wars game for the wii - seriously. He's less than 4% away from 100% of all of the challenges, tasks and whatnot. Me? I've been breeding up some seriously "WOW, you turned out nice" Sims - I just wish the pictures were easier to retrieve and post. We're still down Trogdor, so everything has to be done on my laptop (reliably), and I just have to step away sometimes.

I've added a bunch of stuff to the radio stations inside the game, but I do miss iTunes while I play. Can't do both. Bah. Which reminds me - I need to see if that one album is now ready to buy - because I want it - but more so, so I can actually burn more copies of my holiday mix CD. Because iTunes would only let me do 7. Because it CAN. BAH TWINKIE CAKES.

Anyone going to MakerFaire in May? It coincides nicely with [livejournal.com profile] joedecker's photography seminar thingy. I'm thinking timeshare exchange. Jim's mother and younger brother are thinking visit.

Yes. Visit. Not at MAH HOUSE. The Bay Area. For a week. Fear, y'all.

Life just needs more cowbell right now. You can jump in any time, now.

- For security I only know of SFTP/SCP offhand.

- The tech behind this Star Wars game looks cool, but it's PS3/360.

I've got a bro that sounds an awful lot like your bro. My condolences.

Same here, you can do nifty things with it, especially if you throw rsync into the mix.

Very strange for brother to come to town and not see you. Even stranger for the rest of the family to go along with this.

My family is also dysfunctional. I know just how you feel.

Dealing with him (more his wife than him, truth be told), is always a crapshoot - and you try not to stir up the shitstorm anymore than you can avoid.

I'm just a bit bemused at what I'm supposed to be at this point.

I'll be Swiss, and only defend myself if attacked directly. The rest - *shrug* - I got other things to do.

In all honesty, this was a Good thing - Mom misses him a LOT. Little brother was sick as a dog throughout, which might be another reason...and really, it was for older brother's benefit, to spend the time with Mom.

For that, I'm all good. The rest - I'll be Swiss and stay out of it unless I'm attacked directly.
