Most of yesterday, just didn't feel right - couldn't concentrate well, felt like warmed-over bleh...went home early, took my temp and voila. Running a fever. Wow. No other symptoms.

Maybe I'm a bit tired. It's gone today, so -

But I can't be gone today - perhaps it's just me, but unless I really have a bona fide reason to be away from work - here's where you'll find me. And I *hate* being pulled away in the middle of the day - unless it's for lunch with buds/coworkers. Pull me away for a doctor's appointment? I'll schedule it late in the day and not come back. Hate being pulled away and have to come back and be sterling. Hate it.

Last night was also meeting with a design person who could also handle the contracting portion of remodeling the house. She want $5,000 as a retainer and thinks we will likely spend $150,000 to do the work.

UH.

According to my insurance policy, that would rebuild the house from the ground up if it had burned to the ground. But - that's also the lowest figure so far. *weighs* Hmmm.

Time to go back to my loan officer/fiscal guru and see what can be done. We HAVE to finish the two adoptions first, fiscally speaking...but by the same token, we have to have the house redone before the second adoption or we will lose the office entire...and that's a scary prospect, just in the number of books that would be displaced. Then toss in the twitchy back house situation, and none of that is a workable option.

So. Time for more phone calls.

I might be a wee bit tired.

I need more hummus...according to the guys at work, there are also falafel balls pre-done in the refrigerated section at Costco. I keep forgetting how yummy that is - wrapped up in a pita. Hell, grilled chicken breast with hummus in a pita is yummola. Speaking of food -

Jim spent a really boo-boo night due to reflux - and I can't help but think the increasing weight has something to do with the increasing problem he's having with it.

He's got to get through a dental appointment today - but by next week, something has to give. "Cutting back" isn't cutting it - and I don't like seeing him this miserable. I can only imagine how being him and this miserable is.

And it's Friday. Yay Friday. Hurry up, four o'clock. Hurry up.

A long time ago I posted a link to Lowes Katrina Cottage plan sets. They had some large houses in that series. The plans are packaged and meet the UBC, and Lowes can furnish a list of materials and quote a price. I don't know what it would cost to build, but they [probably have a contractor or two who can do it. As long as you use one wall of your original house, it's considered a rehab, so you'd just incorporate one wall of the existing structure into the new house. As for an office, a friend in teh valley re-worked his garage, added a second story, and made himself a nice office/retreat. Just thinking of ways to make the space problem work for you.

Good point. They use the larger Katrina cottages for Dorms at Cal Baptist University (in Riverside, CA). There is a pic of them in use Here. They're sooooo cute!

They're reeeeally cute. If you do run over to the campus, bring some moola with you. Cal Baptist has *the best* cafeteria ever in the history of cafeterias. They charge $6 or $7 for meals and you don't need to be a student to go in and get food. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and I think they do a Sunday brunch too.

I think I had that same weirdness yesterday also. Glad you feel better. Hope Jim can feel better also.

2 adoptions? Can the little ones share a room for a while? Probably best to get as much work done though before kids are around. (Saying this from experience with Alan and a 2 bedroom condo!)

They can for a while, not a long while. That price sounds mighty high, though.

Of course, I'm not in California...

And they are small bedrooms - don't wanna.

Yes, the California part is contributory to the price tag. Note - I did say this was the lowest figure so far.

We'll see. I was thinking more along the lines of a $50,000 upgrade, myself.

Poor Jim.

The reflux may be getting worse due to wait. That's what has happened to my mother since she gained her weight.

*hugs* Hope the tired goes away soon.

there are also pre done filafel balls at Trader Joes. They're part of a "middle east feast" (in the salad section). Filafels, pita, hummus and something else. MMMMmmmm - delish.
