I'm fine.

Though I think Carbon Canyon is probably not so much....

More updates as they come in.

Given the fact that I used to work in CofIndustry, I think I am glad I am NOT there.

I was just about to post something asking my SoCal buddies to check in. One of my friends went MIA online after it started, so I'm hoping she's okay.

Holy shit, Carbon Canyon?!

That's right where I grew up... my elementary school was in the canyon, oh man....

The shake maps have "very strong" at the epicenter, but barely. The "did you feel it?" map seems to be jammed, but here's a shaking intensity map:
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/shakemap/sc/shake/14383980/intensity.html

I'm thinking that unless that are is profoundly landslide-prone, they'll be looking at a little cracked plaster and maybe broken glass and dogs that are freaking out.

Felt like a classic pressure wave, no hard jerks or anything. It just lasted a bit - if it was less than 45 seconds, I'd be surprised.

Good good. I was curious if it was just a decent earthquake close to me, or a strong earthquake further away.

It's great in this day and age where you have preliminary statistical information about this kind of stuff two minutes after it happens.

Good point. I wonder if there were any avalanches?

I was giving myself the benefit of the adrenaline and thinking it just seemed that long. I believe it!

My son in San Jose didn't feel it, and San Fran is a good 60 miles further north, so probably not.

Yikes. No fun. I'd rather deal with a tornado, where I can go to the basement and be safe.

Good to hear you're OK! Stefan wrote me telling us his experience. From what he described, he seems to have gotten it pretty strong. Still, he's alright, and I'm glad you and Jim are safe too.

There are a couple of reports of "felt it" up here, very light, might or might not actually have been the quake.

Keep in mind that we didn't really feel the Northridge quake, and that was much bigger.

And where if it hits, your house is mown down? We mostly lose chimneys and the contents of liquor stores. ;)

And unless a water main breaks (RARE), it's dry and the roads are passable.

And over in a minute or so. I'm fine with it. REALLY fine with it. *grins*
