Father's Day?
Jun. 19th, 2005 07:45 pmI've seen some of the whack passing for homilies today - Father's Day at Downtown Disney. Just a couple of pointers -
No, your kid is not "past that" if the Lego kit he covets at the Lego Store is rated younger than his age. He want's that kit - not the more difficult one that is fugly, boring and not his thing. And no, the more you insist (and he resists) is not the cue for you to tell him to "settle the fuck down." Merde.
I saw a lot of males with attendent offspring who were total strangers today. No, one day at Disney won't fix that, you wankers. Get a clue.
I did see a couple of families out for Sunday dinner - one with, gee, more than 10 members, enjoying the heck out of the live music at the Jazz Club this afternoon. They were - *gasp* - enjoying each other's company immensely. What a concept.
I saw a lot of Dads at Build-a-Bear (why yes, we went back - and took
caitlin) today - and it was pretty cool. It's a bit frou-frou for most beefy types - but they managed not to break out in purple spots. Must have been the Harley-Davidson stuff near the front of the store.
There are a lot of male parents on my friends list. Greetings of the day to you - no, you ain't getting a card. Feh. As if.
Guys, I noticed. BTW, you're doing a great job.
And as for me? I'm calling Mom and thanking her for doing a great job, too.
I'm also thinking about a bunch of Dads that have passed on, having a nice peaceful smoke together. Y'know.
