I have wee little sproutlings in my kitchen window, thanks Target. And the twenty seedlings planted a week ago are all still alive and growing and are very much of a concern to the boy as we tromp out to water them every morning.

Now, I could wish this didn't have so many 'don't do that!' commands in it - but we're making progress. Most statements are still followed up by a 'why' from kid - I think some of this is leftover language patterning from Chinese to English - there really isn't a way to acknowledge a statement in Chinese without making another statement, so Why? is a good way to fill in the blank.

My whole yard could do with more watering. Need more devices. *nods* The sprinklers installed up front have developed a huge leak, so yanking them completely out is required before they can be used again. Something we're not able to do, lack of education and tools mostly. Anyone want to trade cookies for plumbing expertise and teaching?

I need to weed the garden, too. Damn crabgrass. Damn volunteers in potting soil from last year.

Good and dirty. Yum.

The weekend, she contained mud, weeds, an 11-year boy and much carnage. Oh, and some significant amounts of Tired.

But the yard looks better - and I think we're going to do this again. Borrow my niece's boy for a weekend. We all enjoyed it.

I need to call the trash people today - we're going to have a huge pickup this week. All the cans are filled, and we filled at least another 10 lawn-size bags as well.

The south forty is just that much closer to being a garden, but it's going to take at least another session of roto-tilling, and then the addition of some soil conditioners, and maybe some geese to get the nut grass up.

Monday. Computers! Yay!
