All my friends who worked at Mervyns? That got canned when their company imploded last fall?

Slowly, but surely - LinkedIn.com being the wonderful conduit that it is on these matters - they are all finding new jobs. Just as good, just as awesome - and just as employed.

People are still losing jobs. But the good news is - there are still jobs to get.

And the companies they're getting employed by are just fascinating as well.

Change is good. Even when you didn't want it.

My boss of 1.5 years (I'm still amazed by this most times) told us in December that he is going to try NOT to lay anyone off this year.

Also, would you be of the opinion that change for me started about 18 months ago? =D

The Meryvn's headquarters building here in Hayward has huge "fixtures for sale" signs on it and apparently there was an auction today because I haven't seen that many cars in the parking lot in a long time.

I have a LinkedIn account that I really need to fix up. It's totally locked down right now, but I might open it up. I'm just a bit cagey about it- I am not looking for a job, and my job is not in danger, as far as I know. No raises this year, and no trips, but I figured that would be true.

Yes, there are jobs out there- if you know where to look and who to ask.
