Last night, kid had so much fun he didn't want to go to sleep. Dinner was ramen, apples, bananas and COOKIES. Then a bath, then some television...and it was pretty clear he was just plain happy to be here.

Seriously. Two hours later and he's pulling every trick in the book to stay up just that wee bit longer (including three bupkis trips to the bathroom, oldest trick in the book, neh?).

We had to load him up and drive up and down the 405 to put him to sleep. At about 8:30 PM. If that's not love, what is?

Catching up with you... sorry about your cat, but big smiles for you on this.

Kids just don't want to go to bed! And the better the day they've had, the less they want it to end. You'll never see more cleverness than what they'll pull to get 30 more seconds out of you. And the ultimate classic is when they cry/ whine, "I'm NOT tired!" in a way that totally screams how exhausted they are.

If you like They Might Be Giants, check out their combo book/cd called Bed Bed Bed. And recently we've been having a laugh with a book from the library that's called something like Don't Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late, in which a pigeon tried all of those tricks on the reader. It is so funny to hear peo scold the pigeon and agree that he's clearly tired when she's pulling the same stuff. And I must admit, a couple of times lately she's agreed that she is tired, unlike the silly pigeon...
