I've learned my lesson on notifications in-case-of-earthquake from the '94 Northridge quake. The quake woke me and Cliff up - we took it in, shook it off and tried to go back to sleep. Tried, mind.

Because the phone started ringing off the hook 15 minutes later.

So, pre-emptive strike last night, guys.

We're dealing with big-effort control issues on the part of kiddo - both with regards to what he will eat, and when he will sleep.

Jim is fond of the end-run around it with regards to sleep - we just pack him up and drive up and down the 405 for about 20 minutes.

UH. Last night? Yeah.

We'd passed the epicenter not 15 minutes prior.

It is warm, comfy and evil because it induces sleep!

(He likes a lot, it's yellow! But he hates all blankets because they mean he has to go to sleep NOW rather than when he finally keels over.)

That's exactly how we got our oldest to sleep most of the time during his first few months with us--drive him around. Minus earthquakes, however.

How old was he? Had a quick heart-to-heart with my daycare leader, and according to her this is pretty classic 'I want control over me' stuff.

If we let him lead on this, we'd be up all night - promise. So we end run him with a car ride.

He was six months old when he arrived. I don't remember how long the driving in the car continued. (Over 25 years ago!)
