And some more stuff.

Everyone is allergic to Tide. So far. At some level. No, really - they are. I don't buy it, won't buy it for anyone else, don't recommend it and hiss at it in the market. Someone says 'I gotta itch' and I ask what kind of Tide they use. People are amazed at my telepathic skillzor. (Not so much.)
All used to be much the same. Anyone seen that on the shelf lately?
I've decided going to Disneyland ALONE because it's free on my birthday is not a good enough reason to go. Would be a whole lot like going to a banquet and starving to death because you can't afford to buy the plate to eat on. No, I don't like the idea enough to physically become ill thinking about it. One should not be thinking about going to Disneyland and get ill from it.
You know, I have a house full of things I haven't had time to do (read, play, sew, repeat), but if I'm home on Saturday, I'm on duty. And will likely be kid wrangling or yelling at Jim. I'm tired of the yelling. So - if I want some peaceful time (remember, I was asking for a retreat originally), I have to leave home. Short of spending the day at Starbucks on my laptop - or riding the MTA (a thought) - anything else involves spending money in some fashion. (Just go shopping! I can hear my sister now. WITH WHAT DEAR ELIZA WITH WHAT.)
Send the boys out to play? WITH WHAT DEAR ELI - okay, you learned the tune.
Stay tuned. Running away from home also does not sound like a healthy place to work from when deciding what to do with one's birthday, either.
Called my brother to discuss Thanksgiving plans (and some Christmas chatter) and wouldn't ya know - "Hey, if you're coming out here Wednesday night, you could just show up early at do all the cooking for Mom!" Both he and Sis are going to Hawaii for Thanksgiving. You remember last year. That's what they decided to do this year. They split town. Thanks, guys.
Kill me now. Oh wait, then you'd lose your [insert slave term here, take your pick] that picks up the slack when you don't want to. I wanted to make reservations and simply take the Danish mafia OUT for Thanksgiving. My mother is looking for some place to get half a turkey to fix for the significantly reduced number that's arriving to eat out there. Kill me now.
The hotel stay is also about a hundred a night. I could try to do a Super 8, but why. I could just sleep in the car and do as well. Kid does NOT go down to sleep as long as we are awake in the same room. Also does not co-sleep well. I'd like to keep my sanity, if I have a choice thanks. So I'm going to pay for a place with two bedrooms and has a full kitchen as a bonus. Will have tea. So help me.
40th anniversary of Sesame Street. 20th anniversary of the wall coming down in eastern Europe. 10th anniversary of Spongebob. Why is everything now measured in multiple decades this week. *grumps* Nothing good happen within the last five years? Don't answer that.
The only illegal immigrants I knew growing up in Southern California were French Canadians. And they were deported.
Dear God, let me remain consistent in the face of four-year old obstinancy. Yup, we're there. Also aquired - selective hearing. Also also acquired - collar grab of DEATH.
I think the addition of such a restrictive amendment to the health care bill (and you know which one, amirite?) will kill it dead in the Senate. Still waiting for health care reform, says I.
Yet another EXCELLENT reason never to step in a Wal-Mart for any reason, anywhere. >_<
PITBULLS IN HELICOPTERS. PITBULLS IN HELICOPTERS.
(If I just gave you an earworm, I have plenty of empathy for you.)

Date: 2009-11-09 08:30 pm (UTC)I think I've stumped you here:
I've got an itch.
I don't use Tide.
*wry*

Date: 2009-11-09 08:43 pm (UTC)It didn't make me itch, but the smell of the (unscented!) detergent made my asthma act up something awful.

Date: 2009-11-09 08:49 pm (UTC)However, All Free works great. Cleans the clothes (one drawback to many organic and "safe for the environment" alternatives.) and doesn't leave a itch behind.
I've also moved on to FREE versions of softener, color safe bleach and even the dryer sheets.
Target is good for usually having the entire array in stock.

Date: 2009-11-09 09:11 pm (UTC)Regarding Tide, funny you should mention the allergy. I don't understand how people can use that stuff. I've known I've been allergic to Tide for years- and the smell it leaves on your clothes is horrid. There's so many better alternatives out there. I thought I was the only one with an allergy though.
Oh, and I avoid Malwart like the plague.

I seem to be allergic to all scented detergents - by which I mean full-on hives, not just itchy. I don't think we used Tide much. I do okay with either the "free" from Costco or Arm and Hammer Free for myself. (Costco's is probably more economic, but I can't lift it.)
And I have only been in a Wal-Mart twice in the last twenty-five years, both times because we were at least a little desperate and there was nothing else in the area we could get to. (Car broke down in Tracy. Slept in car overnight, got new battery for car the next day at Walmart, managed to get home on that. Needed an alternator, but didn't have the cash.) I feel sorry for folks who are stuck in places where Wal-Mart is practically the town factory.

Date: 2009-11-09 11:52 pm (UTC)I *think* I most recently was using Tide, but the clear version without fragrance or dyes, for my front load washer.
Tweet it around.

Do SOMETHING for yourself. You won't get the pretzel unsnarled without it, hon. I'd go with you if I could. :(
