Money's Back -

And now, I can pay my utility bills. Still no word on who or what they used the funds for - the bank is fronting the refund. (They have not turned the charges back.)
Which means they can take it all back if they want. *sighs* Can you tell how little trust I have left in this institution? Right.
Still no replacement card. So, no Paypal or anything normally associated with it. I don't want to look at the AMEX account, which is where a lot of incidental things have had to land since Thursday.
My house is a disaster area after having all three of us sick for a week, and then back to work without looking too closely at it. I actually wanted to treat myself to a cleaning service (and I still might) before Christmas, to get everything up to speed. I don't have dust bunnies. I have mutant dust-and-cat-hair blobs that threaten to engulf us at every turn.
No paypal button yet, folks. Hang onto to that good will - I'm 'banking' it in case of worse luck. Yes, I've had it worse than this at the holidays. I just don't like ruining a perfectly good day with the details.
More, as it develops.

Date: 2009-11-25 02:21 am (UTC)(But seriously, with two cats living here, it's the best money I ever spent on a vacuum, and it does not require adult supervision to clean - unless it's malfunctioning, that is =P)

Date: 2009-11-25 06:42 am (UTC)You don't have your "refunded" money in the same account with the same numbers and everything, right?
This may sound like a incredibly DUMB question, but unfortunately banks have a nasty habit of doing this. And then the thieves-very gratefully-clean out the "refund".
I say "refund" in quotes, because unless this is all a done-and-dusted deal, investigation OVER, that money is NOT yours. If they complete the investigation and determine that it's your fault you lost the money, they'll take it right back.
And if it gets stolen from the account they never canceled, then you'll be liable for what you lost AND what the bank "refunded" you.
