The first thing the estimator said when he saw the truck was "totalled." Essentially.

I may have to get rid of the truck. I may have to drive it like it is.

More, as it develops.

I'm being made to do things again before I want to do them. I hate it.

It looked like back-end damage, right? Just some fender crunchies? What's the year/make/model of the truck? Is it the bed that got crumpled up? Does it handle funny, now?

It's a 1988 Ford Ranger - and it has been hit in the behind once before, so it wasn't spiffy to begin with.

The tailgate can't be closed now - but it handles okay in spite of it.

I figure I can scrouge up $5000 to replace the wheels without getting into car payments. We'll see.

If it's "totalled," they'll at least give you the worth of the truck... and if you can find someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows a mechanic, maybe you can get the rear end un-crumpled at reasonable cost. :)
