Okay, okay - I'll spare the friends list. Click if you dare.

We began the morning in Goofy's kitchen. This is not the only way to begin your day in the world of the mouse, but it's a damn good one. I have never had a bad time there. And I have been there with so many kinds of groups, I would have to say now that there are no restrictions. Goofy's kitchen is for everyone. And no, children are not required.

GREAT food, plenty of it...and people in walk around Disney costumes. Who interact. With intelligence, wit and style.

You walk in, sit down and within 15 minutes, a stupid-ass grin stretches across your face. And doesn't leave. Well worth the price of admission.

Oh, yeah, and you can do the macarena...if you want. Goofy does a mean macarena. Yeah, you're laughing. See?

I, with some regret, bought the tickets. "Where are you from?" the lady asks. We're local. "Oh really? We just got this promotion - you get a day free at either park with proof of residency."

What...? I have been staunch in my aversion to California Adventure as I flatly refuse to pay twice to see both parks. Well, now I don't. I will see California Adventure on Disney's nickel before May. Hot fucking tuna.

Taking the Monorail in from Downtown Disney (oh, a quick hint. Park at the Disneyland Hotel and buy your tickets and enter from Downtown Disney. Puts you right in Tomorrowland without dealing with the thundering hordes...), we spent a LOT of time in Innoventions. Yes, I found the Sora. Yes, I took my picture with him. And of him. It's VERY cute. Not at all like a Bob's Big Boy. VERY cool.

Meanwhile, I am still grinning.

You know the video aquarium? There's an interactive one. It took me a minute to figure out you could dink with it, while the guys were playing with the sound mixers...tap the screen. Oh, my.

Shit happened. Fun shit. We were giggling like maniacs.

Pin collecting. Cursing of [livejournal.com profile] nytshaed. Kept searching. New Stitch pin was out. Bought many. Traded some. Hooked [livejournal.com profile] firez. Laughed like maniacs. Took him to see "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience." It's hokey. It's cornball. It's suck. He screamed like a little girl. He loved it.

It's a Small World was still dressed in holiday finery. Monday, it comes down for a week to put it back to normal. But it was incredible. Yeah, it was.

Went to Toontown. Waited in line to see Mickey. Yes, us. Had our pictures taken. Yup, yup, yup.

Left the park to eat lunch at the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney. Also good. Walked through the World of Disney store and bought a jacket and mittens for me, more pins and stuff...and managed to see a parade, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Peter Pan ride...when we finally settled down to wait for the fireworks, my feet were hamburger. Happy hamburger, sure...but oh, tiiiired.

The fireworks were no disappointment. I was incredibly pleased.

I am still Disney's bitch. I admit it. It's the crack. Disney crack.

I took [livejournal.com profile] firez to see The Lion King at the IMAX. They're going to release Aladdin this summer to IMAX. Oh, it looks good. Yes, it's a ripoff. Yes, it's decadent. But the soundtrack still grabs me on visceral level and never lets go. So many of those films made in then did.

I miss Alan Asherman so. I miss those years that Eisner and Katzenberger got along and these films got made. I don't remember the name of the financial officer who was killed in that plane crash...but the word was, with him gone, things were going to change drastically. He was the one who held it all together and kept those two from eating each other alive. The bean counter. God, he must have been one hell of a wonderful person - and nobody knew anything about him. Because once he was gone, so was that era at Disney.

Spirited Away is up for an Oscar. I am so pleased. SO happy.

And so it goes.

[livejournal.com profile] firez goes home tomorrow. And Jim and I go look at more houses. Wish us luck.

And now, I go fall down now. And dream of dancing mushrooms, and great big beautiful tomorrows.
