You remember what I said about cars, speed and altitude?

*shuffles*

We got on the 91 to get to Sis' house this morning and ended up being first on the scene of a SUV rollover. Someone's little Neon blew a tire, clipped a RAV4 and it went flying. They said it rolled two and a half times.

12 cars stopped to render aid; I made the first call while Jim and the others extricated the victim from his car. Let this be a lesson to you - seatbelts WORK. He was shook, he was scared witless and with a very sore body, he'll be fine. We did not see any evidence of internal trauma or orthopedic injury - and the firemen were so fast I was impressed. Less than a six minute response!

And my husband, I might add, was a total hero. Once the victim was out of the car and safe, he immobilized the head and c-spine with his own two hands and kept the victim calm, soothed and comfortable until the paramedics released him - after they had applied a cervical collar themselves. He sat crosslegged on the hot asphalt of the 91 freeway and did this. Me, I'm directing traffic and talking to the cops.

So help me, there will be a first responder kit with us wherever we go from here out.

...and with that said, I will reiterate. Firemen is damn tasty. OH man. That hasn't changed a whit! ([livejournal.com profile] nytshaed will understand.)
