Speaking of spanked, it's just so damned satisfying to mail a complaint letter to American Airlines in one of their vomit bags.

[livejournal.com profile] kimonthejourney, you are SO added to my friends list.

(It also looks like she might be a local..w00t!)

Hiya!

I'm a Dallas girl.

My sympathies.

As I've been telling the rest of my Texas friends, I have visited Dallas more times on business than anywhere else in the world. And every time...it has been a total misery.

You've got Los Angeles on your interests list....

I love visiting LA. I have friends there. I go to the beach and feel fabulous in the sun and wind. I go up to Malibu and get a coffee in a Starbucks and always buy a pair of shoes at a funky little shoestore there. I just drive a lot there. I let myself get sort of lost (never really lost because I have a sense of direction I can't turn off) and just see things. It's great.

I am not really thrilled with Dallas. I've lived here all my life, I have a nice house in one of Dallas' few neighborhoods with hills and trees, good friends, and yet....it's not enough. The summers are detestable. Plus, considering all that's gone on in my life, I think a change would do me worlds of good. I'm planning a permanent move out west.

I'm thinking of the Seattle area I want to go to the U of W graduate library program. It's excellent. Mild weather, and so much natural beauty available to us (my mom and dad would move with me, plus my dog, three cats and fish!) there.

The Seattle area is fabulous. I love it here.

Of course, I don't live IN Seattle; I live out in the country, across the Sound from Seattle. West of Seattle, where I have a terrific view of Mount Rainier but am safe from any future mudflow.

If you like hills and trees, you'd love it here, too. We have a lot of both. We also have amazingly good salmon, the inestimable Pike Place Market, nice people, earthquakes, mountains (some of which are volcanic), the Sound, the only temperate rain forest in the world (on the Olympic Peninsula), good ski areas about 2 hours outside Seattle, deep blue skies, good water, and more espresso stands per capita than anywhere else I've ever been.

Sounds a lot like home - just add water.

And salmon. Don't forget the salmon. *yum!*
