Oh, and if you haven't heard -
May. 2nd, 2004 10:17 pmThe fact I'd taken manga with me to read while he rode just satisfied my daily quotient for irony to a tee. I considered briefly getting angry about hearing the gung-ho group talking about outfitting the troops going to Iraq - but refrained.
These guys are into aircraft that has a specific function. Support.
They did not question whether it was right or wrong - that's not their job. Their people are being shipped outside the country, and ghaddamn, where's their bottled water going to come from if not US'Ns?
They fly the aircraft. Nobody is questioning whether that was done well.
There were grayhairs who had built the aircraft during WWII, children of "Rosie the Riveter" who had brought Mom's old ration book to show the group, and nuts like us who just like vintage aircraft - but talk to Jim about details, I used to be pretty good until he showed up.
They're restoring a B-29 out at Chino. When that one is ready to fly, I'll take that trip. That was my Dad's plane, after all.
OH MY GHAD IT WAS HOT TODAY AFHGS!@KAGH. It's still over 80 in here.
