Getting you down? Here, have a pill. And a good laugh. WARNING=gallows humor. (EK, I swear, someone was channeling you that day - )

The Good Victim - no comments allowed on the lady's rant, but worth a read through. Discuss among yourselves -

Why no post yesterday? I was busy. No, really!

[livejournal.com profile] caitlin came over in the early afternoon, and we went and had Indian food, and then stopped off at the Torrance Cultural Center for the Japanese matsuri being held there on behalf of the Torrance Sister City organization.

It was small, admittedly. I don't even know if the group has it's own website yet, but Torrance's sister city in Japan is Kashiwa - and they send high school students back and forth on study programs (lucky).

The fellow who looks to the be president of this group is a tall, lanky old fella who I have got to get to know better - he'd be a GOOD candidate for CERT, at the very least - but he must have been in his seventies and greeted both me and Cait at the door. We bought raffle tickets (who wouldn't) - and sat through a very young group of taiko drummers. The guy got up afterward to do the drawing - and this is a pretty good-sized drum full of tickets.

He knew most of the people on the tickets drawn. Knew them, spoke to some of their talents and activities...impressive.

I also won - I got dinner for two for Souplantation, which is kick-ass. I also got a bake-sale cheesecake, and saw something I didn't think I'd see again, so I snagged it. A ring-bearer's pillow made out of obi fabric - gorgeous. And since I'd been working on wedding favors, I was already in the mood.

It's on the way up to [livejournal.com profile] ceolyn and [livejournal.com profile] silverkun - I don't know if she'll even like it, frankly. But it was clearly Moscow rules of shopping - I'd never seen one like it before, and I'm fairly certain I won't again. So there. I got permission, I called Rey -

I'll tell you more about CERT training later - with pictures. They gave out backpacks with gear in them, first class. Gear. Like a hardhat, gloves and gas meter wrench. Oh, and one of those crossing-guard vests with "Manhattan Beach CERT" on the back. Whoo-hoo, I'm gonna have a badge after this over!

I'm finally in a class where I don't scare everyone. This is good. [livejournal.com profile] camwyn, [livejournal.com profile] ravynfyre, you'd be proud!

Off I go - it's Monday, and there they go without me -
