A whole lot like Saturday mornings, just chibi.

Holy cow, I've broken 200 on the "befriended" list - more than 200 people have me on their friends list now. Wow.

The cat is definitely a morning person. At least when someone is at the computer. But the purrs you get for playing along with the distractions is often worth it.

Reading my swag from yesterday - bought stuff I can likely scan and turn into icons for everyone to steal at will - so I might do some of that today.

Been struggling with a scan I made five years ago for most of this week. Really sucks when you have to wait 30 minutes for one mouseclick to process. Yes, you read that right. One. Mouseclick.

It works if you have the patience.

This feels like a waffle morning. Need to get to it before it gets too warm.

I'm wearing Jim's shorts.

They're a pair he outgrew once he got here. Quick rewind - Jim got here from St. Louis in 2000 weighing a scant 200 lbs. VERY anemic, not a good eater and so forth. I think we've put 40 lbs. on the boy since then - he's happier, but his wardrobe has had to change. The 36" waists just aren't cutting it anymore. *checks waistband* Shoot, this could be four inches smaller and still work.

I've got a pair of the old shorts on. Mind, they aren't a perfect fit - there's plenty of room in them - but they work better than anything else for the day I've had. Which has been plenty of housework and stuff outside.

They're cargo shorts - nothing any female would wear on a bet. Guess where the pockets are. I love them. Jim is NOT getting them back.

Yeah. Anything that doesn't make me look fat, makes me look like a boy. Eh, I'll live.

And Jim is wearing a purple and lavender Hawaiian print scrub top to work tonight.

He looks wonderful in it.

...so much for conventional wisdom.

When the technology stops being a barrier, watch out.

Gave up on the scan I did five years ago - I just should have scanned it with a lower dpi - the file I was working with was too large to reduce down to icon size and keep any kind of image quality.

This one only took a couple of hours, with about six false starts. I'm not entirely happy with it - but it's coming out of a newsprint manga, so I can't expect crisp and clear (i.e., I don't know how to clean up that kind of image muff yet) - but it's not bad.

The Fruits Basket manga is a lot like the Sailor Moon manga - it's much prettier than the anime taken from it.

Oh, and if you want it - take it. I'll scan more - and the art doesn't belong to me, anyway.

Cliff's Dad called - returning calls I've been placing for a couple of weeks. He's been on travel - he's back with JPL working on nuclear power systems again.

Like he could retire - tsch!

But the possibility that I could see him soon just jumped up a peg - he spends a week at a time at JPL in Pasadena, and with just a little luck I could find a supper to have with him again.

I've missed him. He and Mom, both.

And it doesn't seem strange at all - we have a history, they and I. We've been family - and I guess we still are. I've been able to tell them about the piano - and they are as excited and surprised as I am. Mom bought that piano with the green paint already on it - just a little bit more information than I had before.

I've asked them to come down for Thanksgiving, Christmas - I hope they come down at least one of those holidays. They have a daughter with two children to come see, I'm hoping they'll make the trip for that reason if no other - and come see me in my house while they're at it.

They were Cliff's parents; and they are still my in-laws. And I am so glad Dad called back. It's all good. REALLY good.
