The kittens (and Mom) are at the vet this morning for their initial exams. (No FIV. No FIV, please!)

I have placements for four out of the six. For less than a week's work, that's phenomenal. The last two? The alpha and the omega of the group - Goku and Aeka.

Goku is going to make someone a really good "personality" cat - he took on Spice this morning and won by sheer bluff. (Spice is still going WTF cat, but hey.)

Yesterday was spent sleeping. I don't recommend scotch-induced bronchitis. I really don't.

Back to work!

FIV NEGATIVE.

And it looks like one of the techs wants Aeka. That's five out of six, folks.

Now, to plan the rest of the work they're going to need - the kitten shots are a series of three - I'm pretty certain I can get two out of the three for the three going to Seattle, but scheduling the alter is going to take some.

And of course, coverage for this weekend.

So far, so good, so far....

Jim blew the rank. It's one of the veterinarians that's interested in our little tortie. Keep your fingers crossed -

It also looks like we'll have enough time to get the kitten shot series completed before we take them up to Seattle. Now, the question is how soon we can alter.

Baths/Advantage? Friday.

I could have sworn Goku would have gone first - he is prime cat material if I ever met it. You want personality? He's your kitty.

Okay, back to the rest of my life. Now in progress....

When it seems like everyone is running away from you?

You can run to catch up.

You can scream and see if they care.

You can leave a message when they get there to call you.

You can also run, and pass them on the way. Or run the other direction.

But never, ever take it personally.

And never let it make the decision on what you're going to do in the meantime.

Life is truly a series of meetings and partings. That is the way of it.

And being happy is as much keeping your eye on what matters to you - and what you gain, not lose.

And being ready for the Next Thing. There will be a Next Thing. And it might be Good, if you're alert and waiting for it.

..

It also helps to grow a great deal of tolerance for being alone; being generous with self-praise for every thing you manage to do for yourself, without help from anyone - and anyone even noticing. You can do it - nobody else needs to know or care. You will. And if you can?

Where life comes up short - it won't matter as much. Make the best of it - or the worst, it's your choice.

Being unhappy does not help you get lucky. Sympathy is not an indication that people care more about what ails you - matter of fact, if often acts more like an exercise in social grace than a valid emotion. Take the hint, and start taking charge.

And comparing your problems to the ones "other" people don't have? They have them. Trust me on this. Maybe not the same ones - but they have shit that would scare any rational person too.

That said?

It sucks little green rat rocks through a coffee stirrer. Backwards. To have to do it all yourself.

But where the rubber meets the road, that's where we all live. Help is always negotiated; never a given.

...and that's just the way of things.

Don't take it personally.
