And what could be more appropriate than some audio files rescued from cheap vinyl inserts?

Everyone knows the Beatles.

Everyone knows they had a very active fan club, that published magazines and had all kinds of little gewgaws, secret handshakes and a whole lotta screaming going on.

But at Christmas, the band recorded Christmas cards for their club members, put them on 'temporary' vinyl sheets as records and sent them out in the December issues of their fan club's magazine.

They're a riot. As the years went on, they also got more and more creative and took more liberties as audial messages.

It takes a while to download, but here they are. Go nuts:

The Beatles Christmas Record 1963.mp3
The Beatles Christmas Record 1964 (outtake).mp3
The Beatles Christmas Record 1964.mp3
The Beatles Christmas Record 1965.mp3
The Beatles Christmas Record 1966.mp3
The Beatles Christmas Record 1967 (Outtake).mp3
The Beatles Christmas Record 1967.mp3
The Beatles Christmas Record 1968.mp3
The Beatles Christmas Record 1969.mp3

Accomplished today - got the police clearance letters done. That required both of us to go to Norwalk, sit in formica chairs and be completed disgusted/bored senseless by daytime television until almost five PM (this, I hoped to do on a long lunch - what a dork) -

I HAD to go back to work, fire drill courtesy of Brand X. Love 'em to pieces, but they keep me busy.

Got home from work at 8:00 PM.

Tomorrow, go get the last of the paperwork together for submission to the agency for our dossier; once that's done, and we have a dossier submission date, then the clock starts ticking. Eight to fourteen months.

Right now, it's very hard to think of becoming a parent - there's very little in this process that has anything to do with kids.

Once someone tells me - you're in, it's just a wait now - then, maybe - just maybe - I'll start hoping again.

And I'll start thinking about music for children again, and baby craft projects...and all of the things I've picked up, and then put down again because it was N/A.

It's been a productive, busy day. But lawd, I'm tired. Down to my heart of hearts.
