Hi Parents and Co-Workers,

I wanted to let you all know that nothing has changed yet and we are all still waiting to hear something, anything. After our attorney filed the emergency stay petition, we were told that it will be 20 days before we will get our response. So, today is the 20th day! No word all day. I was hoping to have good news for everyone. So maybe tomorrow. I will update you all as soon as I know anything more.

On a good note, Upsorn called me while I was at Beach Babies (Artesia) and she was able to talk to her co-workers and one of our parents J She was so very happy to have that connection for just a few minutes and we were all so happy as well.

The silent auction was a wonderful success. We were able to raise over $4000 to help Upsorn! I personally want to thank each and every family and co-worker who got involved in this event to help make it such a wonderful success. Upsorn will be so grateful. Also, the personal donations as well as the monies raised for this silent auction are being held until we know more. So please do not worry that your check has not been deposited yet. They are safely locked up in my office.

Again, thank you, each and every one of you for your kindness and thoughtfulness in this difficult situation. We hope and pray this will result in a positive conclusion shortly! Keep up the good thoughts.

Warm regards,

Denise Tyner

I'm beginning to think renting space for this shindig makes more sense than shoehorning everything into the street outside my house.

I'm beginning to think that trying to stake out space in a local park doesn't make sense.

I'm beginning to think that the Japanese-American Cultural Center in Little Tokyo has just the digs I'm needing. They even pulled catering trucks into the plaza this year during Nisei Week, and that worked out like nobody's business.

Could do the same. Could ask some of the taiko groups back, and gee - they already know their sets and the venue.

So that's food and entertainment, plus location. Cake is still up for grabs.

But the cost to do this? You'd think I was getting married again or something.

If the insurance reimbursement comes through - yeah, this might be okay. If not - oh hell, no - if I can't justify Disneyland, I sure as hell can't justify THIS.

And I may end up with a hot dog at Costco for my trouble as it stands. I mean, I could throw the biggest party on the block, but who would come? Who could? We're firmly talking two weeks before Thanksgiving here, folks. Ya may be fond of me, but it's the holidays.

Just hang in there a bit longer, guys. I'll only be this selfish for a while longer.

Satoshi Kon has died of cancer at the age of 47.

*shakes head* Unfair is hardly the word I should use, but it's all I got.
