A newly discovered collection of notes written by Nixon aide HR Haldeman
reveals that during Nixon’s 68 presidential campaign, he illegally
conspired to convince the South Vietnamese president, Nguyen Van Thieu,
to scuttle the peace talks run by Nixon’s political rival, Vice
President Hubert H. Humphrey.

Nixon was advised on the maneuver by Henry Kissinger, and also
threatened CIA director Richard Helms with termination and political
ruin if the CIA didn’t cooperate with Nixon’s plans. It is a federal
crime to take steps to “defeat the measures of the United States.” It is
considered a form of treason.

Nixon later repeatedly denied having taken any measures to undermine the
peace talks, and directed his lawyers to spend their careers
suppressing the release of documents related to the 1968 election and
the talks.

Approximately 35,000 Americans were killed in Vietnam after the failure of the peace-talks; the war also killed over 1,100,000 North Vietnamese soldiers; civilian casualty estimates range from 195,000 to 430,000.

As Hunter S Thompson wrote in his obituary for Nixon:
“If the right people had been in charge of Nixon’s funeral, his casket
would have been launched into one of those open-sewage canals that empty
into the ocean just south of Los Angeles. He was a swine of a man and a
jabbering dupe of a president. Nixon was so crooked that he needed
servants to help him screw his pants on every morning. Even his funeral
was illegal. He was queer in the deepest way. His body should have been
burned in a trash bin.”

Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger are complicit (you could make an argument that they are responsible, too) in the deaths of more than 30,000 Americans and over a million Vietnamese. Because they wanted to win an election.Never forget this.

Know it when you see it.  Because you will see it again.

but for the time being I think Twitter users commenting on this sums it up:

local man consumes nothing but toxic rainwater for ten days, loses his mind, now trespasses for the purpose of theft

one lunar cycle of delivery

God I hope they all get dysentery and shit themselves to death

You wonder if we need the FDA?  Does a bear shit in the woods?!

It has come to my attention that most people don’t know this about Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and that’s a goddamn crime against humanity.

Back when they were young and poor they had to share a single person bed for six months. As Pegg put it, they started out sleeping head to feet, but after kicking each other in the face one too many times they started sleeping head to head. It wasn’t long after that that they gave up on being macho “no touchy” dudes and just snuggled up during bedtime. In the morning they “couldn’t tell where one began and the other ended”.

That’s why they’re so cuddly today. They’re so physically close that it worried Frost’s fiance at the time and she asked them to never share a bed again after she got married to Frost. The night before the wedding Frost wasn’t allowed to see her anyway, so Pegg dropped by his house so they could share a bed one last time (Frost since got a divorce though). Pegg’s wife has no objections to any of this. If it’s important to her hubby, who is she to judge.

Pegg recommend all male friends to try sharing a bed. If it turns out you want to fuck each other, great, you’re going to have a lot of fun. If you don’t want to fuck each other, well, then nothing happens anyway.

(Side note: That’s also why there’s so many photos of Edgar Wright cuddling up to various guys. He learned that from Pegg and Frost. They created a cuddle monster that can’t be stopped)

I watched the latest Asterix and Obelix movie (Mansions of The Gods) last night and was reminded of how much I love it when people carry Asterix.

Not only is it adorable, but it says a lot about Asterix’s character. He’s the warrior of his village but super short so you’d expect him to be like Yao from Mulan; aggressive and insecure about his height.

But he’s not. Not even a little bit. He’s so unbothered by it that he allows people to carry him around like a small dog. Granted, it usually happens when he is too weak to stand on his own, but you never ever see him get upset about it and yell “Put me down!” If anything he actually seems grateful that people took care of him. He’s also fine with Obelix carrying him around when he gets excited and just waits for him to put him down (unless he was angry at Obelix to begin with) Heck, he often encourages Obelix to carry him if he’s excited himself.

I dunno, it’s just super cute and a very effective way to show that he doesn’t lack self esteem.

After serving over two million meals in Puerto Rico, Chef Andrés' work 'may change how aid is given':

texnessa:

ralfmaximus:

Andrés took one of the first commercial flights available to Puerto Rico after Maria, at first financing the food through his own personal credit cards and cash. By its peak, “Chefs for Puerto Rico” had 18 kitchens throughout the island at cost of nearly half a million dollars daily, including a coliseum where he and up to 500 volunteers prepared more than 60,000 meals every day. Some of these meals were taken to out-of-reach, remote areas where people were hurting the most.

While FEMA handed out Skittles and Cheez-Its (and complained loudly about how hard the job was) THIS dude fed 60,000 people a day sandwiches, fruit, soup, and rice dishes with meat. Out of his own pocket.

Hell yes he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.

Seriously awesome human being.
