Folks, feel free to cut loose with the happy-ass dancing.

I heard from Mom this morning; she'd had a particularly good morning talking shop with her nephrologist this morning.

Anyone out there familiar with creatinine clearance numbers and what they mean? Good. Try this one:

She's down to a 2.2. That's walking around with the rest of us normal. This is after losing one kidney, all the obstructive issues she's had and being 81 years old. Hello.

We were looking at highs in the 6's not six months ago. That's what appropriate treatment and a supportive diet plan has done. (The diet sucks, but -)

We can discuss dialysis now - sure we can. We're not looking at actually having to do it today.

Cardiac status? Dead stable, and no diuretics needed. There's no CHF left. Hello.

Mom says she won't be doing any dance contests - and she gets fatigued at the end of the day - but she sounds normal, even happy and perky on the phone.

So help me, it's easy to say the fatigue is part of getting older - at least in Mom's case, it's only an indicator that something needs attention.

That just about compensates for the huge sucking sound that is work this week. Just. About.
