I swear, I thought the cat was going to be the spaz case. Nope.

Last night, Jim washed her. I washed her the last time, I thinks she's due to get abuse from someone besides me for a change.

He must have spent an hour with her. Less than an hour after that, I begin checking and she's got fleas. The e-collar had gone back on her when I got home from work yesterday when I found bleeding raw patches - but with the addition of finding little itty bitty bloodsuckers, some thing more is needed.

But I did powder the hot spots and this morning, they're much better - but the collar stays on and she has an appointment this afternoon.

This dog sees her doctor more often than anyone else in the house. 9_9

Okra fell through last night when I found that the corn meal was fuXX0Rd. Was wondering where those mealworm moths were coming from. Gack. Good thing today is trash day - sayoNAra!

Supremely unmotivated today. Weather gorgeous. Want to be sleeping under a tree somewhere.

Weekend here. Yaaayyy weekend. House and yardwork to catch up on. Have found the drill - must hang pictures and shelves. MUST.

EDIT: SUCK. I suck. The dog has the fleas and is taking up all my spare maternal insticts....the DOG! I really ought to read these things more carefully before I post them. Bah.

Moths?

Are those the little gray-white powder-winged suckers? I hate those things. Got them in the house from a contaminated bag of dog food and have been picking them off one at a time since... >_

As a new cat owner, I have yet to brave the territory known as "bathing the cat".

I hear that's what they do in laboratory condition where they want to test new blood clotters.

"Here, wash this cat, then come over there so we can administer this medicine. If you can't walk or are in too much pain, we'll come to you after the cat is subdued."

Actually, bathing cats ain't all that bad. Make sure you clip the claws first. Fill the tub with warm water first.

Have plenty of thick towels you can get wet handy.

If the cat won't allow you to ease her into the tub without freaking out, wrap the cat in the towel and put all in together. Soap up, rise quick and wrap in dry towel.

A challenge? Get two people in on it.

Mine's still a kitten technically, only about 4 months old. Everyone tells me that if I want the adult cat to put up with certain behaviour (clipping nails, bathing, etc.) start 'em young, and that's what I intend to do.

"Ignore this towel in my hand and come here!"

*nods* We started out cat when she was teeny - and since one of us rubs her ears (she loves this) while one of us clips her claws and keeps her wrapped up in a towel while doing it, she doesn't mind it all that much.

But I really recommend two people the first time. What she can't use, she can't scratch you with.
