Yesterday, Jim and I rose at the crack o' doom to go clerk a special congressional election. Very specific, very small. But with only a 10% turnout - though I was surprised that my estimate of 20 total votes for that precinct was blown out of the water (uh, total of 47 voters showed up, if you please).

However, it looks like it's going to runoff, regardless.

The one thing I have to say about participating in elections, is that it sends you into neighborhoods you wouldn't normally visit. In this case, the poll was set up in a brand-new community center in Wilmington, a VERY different neighborhood than the one I live in. Very much working class Hispanic, nearly all Mexican or Middle/South American origin (which is a large component of the one I live in, but not nearly as much. My neighborhood has *no* real majority of any ethnic group, with a higher percentage of Asians, Pacific Islanders, and crackers like me). I did see who did turn out for the elections - nearly all elderly, and I think we were the youngest voters (and we voted provisionally).

The community center wasn't heated. We were in from before the sun came up and were finishing up hours after it went down. To say we were chilly - let's just say I didn't get *warm* again until I woke up this morning. I had been cold so long, I didn't even want to try a hot bath to warm up. Don't want to think about the scale right now - if it was hot, I ate it. That includes Domino's pizza and that's saying something. Normally, I *hate* pizza and can't stand the stuff. Yesterday? Four pieces.

I got a book read, cover to cover, played my DS until I had nothing more to do in AC:WW (and I have snow on the ground for the first time this year). That's really sad, by the way. I got to make snowmen for the first time - and even my snowmen are TOTAL EMO BIYATCHES. So I booted the laptop up (lap warmer deluxe!) and played Sims. For the record, watching Martha Steward get burned in a fire always makes someone's day. Always. And the cell phone died two hours in. Bitch.

For my WW folks, I've got a scoop on buying Luna Bars - Amazon.com will let you order them in 15 bar packs for $12.83 with free shipping. If you subscribe to have them delivered on an ongoing basis. For me, since I go through at least five of these a week? DOABLE. Very good price. And I can get any flavor I like - which is tough to do without going to Whole Paycheck for some of them. Luna Bars = 3 points. I do these for breakfast most of the time. And they make fantastic things to tuck into your purse when you have to go to the movies or some such.

I'm coming up to the Bay Area December 28th - and I want to go here while I'm there.

[livejournal.com profile] mdlbear, I GOT IT. Finally got to the POB during office hours and picked up the package! And thanks muchly - I think I now have a soundtrack for this year's IT department holiday potluck.

I'm getting ready to send the eVites around for Christmas Eve - you local, you need to watch for it pretty please. *Everyone* can come to my house Christmas Eve. Open House, get it?

In other news, I've been watching Naruto. I have a niece who adores it and I want to be hip. Shoot me now. Plz k thnx.
