haikujaguar's book - and coming in under 60 pages, almost misses making this list due to its size. However, when it takes as long to go through 60 pages as it would 160 - because of the thoughtful pauses one needs to take between entries...you've really got something.
And then she tosses in some awesome artwork on top of it.
I kept thinking how much some of my friends in the BSDM community would enjoy this - not for the violence or sexual content, of which there is very little to nil of, but for the echoes of the amount of structure, and expectations...and the rewards of knowing your place and being safe in it at all times that this glimpse into this culture provides.
Wonderful speculative fiction that does everything one would expect such to provide - food for thought.
On to the next one!
