Summary:
Responsible for the ongoing projects as well as general purchasing support of the Commercial Manager and Buyer as they relate to representation on projects teams, contracts administration, and miscellaneous purchasing of co-packing and co-manufacturing services.

Principal Accountabilities:
Ensure that the Company gets the proper quality at the best value for money. This includes:
- Attending weekly projects team meetings as scheduled.
- Managing daily communications, and project milestones with suppliers and internal clients.
- Learning and applying innovative, state-of-the-art contracting and negotiating techniques.
- Analysing value obtained from sourcing alternatives using financial analysis techniques to "unbundle" charges for co-manufacturing.
- Aiding in the implementation of technological solutions, which provide a negotiating "edge" and/or improve efficiency, such as EDI, EFT, etc.
- Visiting vendor operations when needed to ensure a solid understanding of vendor's business and practices.
- Challenging client groups to properly define needs and to consider alternative ways to meet these needs (in-house vs. vendor sourcing, different vendor with whom they might not be familiar, etc.).
- Participating in cross-functional teams to solve potential problems before they become major issues.
- Influencing clients to solicit Commercial involvement early in the buying process rather than after the fact.
- Anticipating needs of clients and suggesting solutions.
- Various other ad hoc or administrative functions.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum two years purchasing, combination purchasing/manufacturing, or equivalent business experience required.
- Good working knowledge of purchasing procedures, innovations in the field of purchasing contract law, finance, and risk management.
- Strong analytical skills; ability to "unbundle" costs of various co-manufacturing and assess value for money.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interface with and influence associates at diverse levels with different backgrounds and perspectives.
- Ability to think and act independently with limited guidance from scalar.
- Project management skills; ability to organize a project into key components and manage progression of the project independently according to an aggressive timeline.
- Attention to detail while simultaneously maintaining a broader business perspective.
- Highly developed PC skills.
- Limited travel required, ability to accept 10-20% away from office.
