Bob Hope would be proud. Also in my memory is Jay Leno being the only guy who went over during Gulf War I to do the same job - finally, someone decided this was an important service to perform this time around. Six years later - yeah.

I am much amused by Colbert being ordered by the President to shave his head. MUCH AMUSED. (And yes he actually DID IT.)

The USO folks (for LAX) often fundraise at our local farmer's market - Jim's been talking about putting some hours in over there himself.

Yanno, I don't think I ever built an account over at the Fuku forum - I'll check, but using the standard handle seems somehow un-kosher, it being completely non-anime in nature. Maybe I should use something appropriate like '_deadRanma86' or something. Speaking of which....

My friend joseph_palmer has updated 'Yellow' - you can get the details here. Four years since an update, Joe? Not complaining! At least you got around to it!

For those of you late to the party, this is the Agent Orange of the Ranma fanfic. There are actually some very nice story arcs to read (my favorites include the Nabiki 'New Horizons' stories (which petered out to pablum, unfortunately) within that colony, Waters Under Earth, for example), but Joe smokes them all. He takes a color...and writes some of the tightest, sweetest, believable tales out of a very silly anime that sacrificed Good for yucks at every turn. I told you I met Jim writing Ranma 1/2 fanfiction, didn't I? Right. Moving on.

I'm with s00j - I can't take listening to the details of the Air France crash. And since there is nothing-singular to be gained by it, I'm turning the dial on it. My mind does not go into good places and why? *turns it off* I am so sorry for those folks and everyone involved. That's the extent of my impact on it.

FACE act, anyone? In case you're unfamiliar with the acronym, FACE is Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances which in this country requires a specific act of law *eyeroll facesmack repeat hello big government what* and betcha didn't even know it existed because Operation Rescue was up on RICO litigation for so long (wonder no more why nothing happened for so long). Yeah, I'd call him any number of things if I was looking at yet ANOTHER RICO suit.

Drop your congresscritter a note. FACE. RICO. Go.

There's one thing that concerns me about Sotomayor. Concern, mind. She's a type I diabetic, diagnosed at age 8. She's in her fifties now - and that's pretty damn old for a type I diagnosed that long ago. She's also just broken her ankle, according to the Beep - I hope this gets a bit more discussion. For universal health care advocates, you couldn't ask for a better background spice...for longevity, probably the worst. If she has a fitness routine, we all need to sign up for it - cos' DAYIM.

I would have preferred the bottle of wine Saturday night, guys. The Venice Carnavale was a complete and I do mean it COMPLETE bust, complete with $20 parking and no coffee anywhere. All the head shops and marijuana support you can ask for...that does not translate into 'artistic community' by a longshot. FAIL.

And then the event the next day? Got to drive by it because ran out of time (more later). So event hopping this weekend? Not so good. AUGH.
