Okay, that's enough -
Sep. 23rd, 2003 10:45 pmI'm cool.
Until I look down and notice my left hand is clenched in a fist, I am. *whooosh*
Oh, it was a very bad day.
I think this Unitarian thing has some merit to it - if both me and
beetiger can be in the same church together after the religious upbringing we both had -
Rosh Hashanah. I remember nights at Cedars-Sinai with Cliff in ICU (various ones...PICU, CICU....) and the blue carnations they gave everyone there. It's that time again already?
Is it me or has Evil Asian Mommie syndrome hit lately?
ass_ is well, being an ass. I strongly suspect most of the pertinent posts are locked down, but he's not the only one this week. Would love to just get my hands on him and shake him senseless - then lock up the house and sit him down with a legal pad, pencil and the ABCS of retraining yourself out of the shit your parents handed you with the guilty stick. My friend Dianne up in Auburn has had to deal with the Evil Asian Daddie this week (Irish redhead marries HK-born Chinese lawyer) who gave them the means for a downpayment on a house for their wedding present two years ago. He arrived this week demanding they drop everything and pick out a house. He's waited long enough, by jingo! Dianne is dealing with a sinus infection (102 degree fever and big gun antibiotics) plus her job. They've also found a house, gotten the loan approved - all five blocks from where they live now. It's amazing. She was *livid.*
bitpig is making me shake my head - "I admire your argument, even if you're wrong." Huh? Baby, if you're wrong and I say you are - it will only be when I can go point by point as to how you are wrong. Nobody is just "wrong" because they disagree with you. Is there anyone left out of there of a conservative nature paying attention to anything but which way the wind is blowing from? It's a whole lot larger than us vs. them, these days. This continues to irk me. He's on my friends list because he is incredibly bright - but I think I bumped heads with him on other forums. We don't always agree - *chuckles* We don't have to - it's not required. Dude, it's not just PC to disagree - it makes long-term sense. If you want to coax people over to your method, you can't hit them over the head with the "you suck!" mallet. "I admire your argument, even if I disagree with it - and this is why --"

That's enough. My journal, my opinions. You know the old saying about opinions.
Opinion are like assholes; everyone has one, and sooner or later, they all stink.

Date: 2003-09-24 10:48 am (UTC)He, I, and Matt Murray got into a lengthy (even for me) discussion on religon, with me stuck mediating between the two rather extreme viewpoints. He speaks in a rather overly-self-assured manner a lot, but the conversation went on for about four months without degenerating to name-calling, so I don't think he ever means it as insulting or condescending.
As for "Is there anyone left out of there of a conservative nature paying attention to anything but which way the wind is blowing from?"....I'm afraid I don't know the context, but many consider me to be rather conservative (really more libertarian than anything, but...) and I'd be happy to take a shot at whatever topic you'd like. (Just might not be able to answer until after AWA.)
