Full-blown bronchitis - not fun.

But the friends list is producing some gems today - first off, via [livejournal.com profile] alliath - Women you hate for good reason - and no, I don't want a fucking diamond.

From [livejournal.com profile] tafkar, a new community - [livejournal.com profile] project29 - go check it out.

Ice water and Riccola are my best friends.

Aw, man. Patrick Stewart is getting divorced. Again. [livejournal.com profile] cecerose?

All the freeways are FUBAR this morning, and they just started routing people down my street from Torrance Blvd. Jim's going to call when he gets to work - it's that narsty.

Pardon me while I go cough up a lung.

Here's my freeway story du jour.

My wife doesn't wear jewelry. If I'm going to buy here a present, she'd much prefer that it be a computer peripheral or DVD or something useful.

I'm with her - my engagement ring was an aubergine black pearl, and I specifically said "no diamonds."

Husband and I trade the strangest things for Valentine's Day - like DVDs of the South Park movie.

Second time, after only three years.

That's just sad.

Icky stuff, hope it clears up soon - have you discovered the trick of putting some heat on your chest, hotpad or hot water bottle or something? Sometimes works for me.... *Hugs*

Hmmm... Running along the lines of commentary near the end of the article about diamonds, etc... I just saw the ad for Sprint PCS, the one of the guy eating, while one of his girlfriend's friends takes pictures and sends her the photo with the comment "I'm with your new boyfriend, don't you just love him" And her reply is "Yes I do love him".... It just strikes me that someone willing to put up with that is probably a much better balanced person and more likely to create a stable relationship. Ok, enough rambling on empty... I hope you feel better soon.

you reminded me...

of the poll I made a bit before Valentine's Day once upon a time. Not a single person who took it at the time wanted their lovebird even *thinking* about buying them a diamond.

I tend to look badly upon the ads from DeBeers and Co mostly 'cause there are some disturbing issues with third-world corruption, terrorism, and diamond profits in general. I've long figured that they ought to change their ads to say something like "the recommended guideline for an engagement ring is that the rocket launcher you end up placing in a Liberian kid's hand should cost the equivalent of at least two weeks salary..."
Besides, rubies are much neater looking :P
