53 books released.

ALL the candy is gone. Three big, warehouse bulk store sized bags. All gone. A bin of individually wrapped almond cookies, some of the same fortune cookies. Some decorated tea light candles. Stuffies. I raided the pantry and gave away hot cocoa packets, tea bags - some of the spare gifts I keep around the house. Some of the anime tschotchkeys from last summer's Anime Expo. I was getting down to unsharpened pencils!

I can't recall having so many trick or treaters - and the best part is the rain that set in about 10:30 PM - certain to curtain the rowdiest party.

It's below the mid fifties now - and lower than 65 inside the house. Me, I'm taking a warm bath and tucking in under some blankets.

Happy Halloween. It's been a long time since this day was so much fun!

Wow! Thanks for sharing that! It sounds like the Halloweens of my childhood. I actually had fun yesterday and last night myself. Had a bowl of candy (Tootsie Roll midgies and Red Vines for the chocolate allergic) on my desk at school. Made me Very Popular with my kidlets (always a Good Thing). The annual Costume Contest was rained out, but I opened my room as one of the Rainy Day Rooms (the school is under construction) and got a chance to see the range of costumes kids came up with. (In my own classes, there were an outstanding Marilyn Monroe in the dress from "Seven-Year Itch" and a dead-on Lucy Ricardo.)
Later, it was up to San Mateo to pick up the Boykid and take him to the local surplus store to complete his costume (Jason, complete with hockey mask and glow-in-the-dark machete). Then back down here to take him to the "ScreamFest" at school and then trick-or-treating in the surrounding neighborhood. He actually said he had enough candy after two streets! (Well, they were giving out multiple pieces at each house, and nearly everyone was participating.) Back to the local discount store to buy extra blankets (PG&E can't come to light my pilot until Thursday), then to dinner at Denny's. All in all, a good time.
