Get to have three meals with Jim - have no problems at work - and it's amazing how nice a day it gets to be.

Getting up early to have breakfast out at Ruby's - right on the ocean.

Taking a long lunch to go home, pick up Jim and go have Mitsuwa scramble area for lunch. Take Lotte tea cakes back to work - "Japanese Moon Pies" - and see them disappear. The whole department bowed to me and begged for more.

They're habit forming - and beat the crap out of Moon Pies. I'm quoting the boss.

Then come home, grill up some salmon steaks on the George Foreman grill using the sweet miso paste from this blogging site and go into fishy heaven. That was the best damn salmon I've ever made. Yummola.

I'm trying to remember what I forgot to do today - it's gone that smoothly.

I doubt tomorrow will be as peaceful - but today was a good day. A very good day.

Oh, I'm female. Oh, well.

Hi. I just read your post on [livejournal.com profile] kittybecca's LJ. (I'm a total stranger, blah blah blah.) Holy smokes. Three house fires? No one should have to go through that. That's awful. And I so admire your reaching out to another fire victim. Bless you.

I keep thinking I should have the taiko drummers come out to Mom's house and scare all the fire demons away. That house has burned down to the ground twice.

The other one was caused by a short in the smoke detector. No kidding. I still have the business card from the bomb squad.

How did the house catch fire twice?

1. Arson.
2. Brother cleaning a chainsaw with gasoline in the garage. Someone comes over with a lit cigarette.

Just plain bad luck, any way you cut it.

It does a lot for cleaning out the junk, lemme tell ya.

However, the homesickness is incredible - and there just isn't a home to go back to anymore. It fades in time, but I hope all the goodwill keeps that at bay.

The first fire, people just showed up who we hadn't seen in decades. It was amazing.
