relevantpink, how far is Thomasville from you folks in GA?
alton_brown says the Sweet Grass Dairy makes the best cheese east of the Mississippi, and I believe him.
If you didn't know what a total cheese nut I am, you do now. Living in Switzerland will do that to do. Being a junior member of the Cheese Club when I was 17 likely had something to do with it - yes, I was the kind of kid who ordered brie through the mail. I luuuurve Brie. With white wine. And goat cheese, dried cranberries, walnuts and greens with some vinaigrette rocks my socks any day of the week.
So with my newfound bonus, I'm ordering some cheese goodness for me. From Georgia. Hey, I'm from California - I know it's the cheese.
And
alton_brown? I'm beginning to think he's my long-lost twin, separated at birth. Yes, he's annoying. Yes, he happens to be right - so how can you get mad for long? That penchant for process, the attention to the minute details...I'd wager he's either Danish or Swiss, ethnically. What he has to say about euphemisms in public schools had me rolling on the floor....
We went to the TRW Swap Meet (the Ham Radio Club's "bring out yer dead" swap meet) - and picked up the neatest little trinket - a lighter with its own cigarette case incorporated into it - easily 50 years old. I'll refurbish it, fill it with Noh incense sticks and carry it around with me. SO cool. Jim found a good pair of binoculars, and another network card for the laptops - Cedric found his carbide bits - I found a cuticle nippers. And we had breakfast/lunch at Norms.
It's been a good day.

Date: 2004-01-31 11:43 pm (UTC)There are some nice goat cheeses made here in Texas. I know that's not the image we have, but they actually raise goats and sheep around San Antonia.
