Boot to the head -
Feb. 3rd, 2004 07:57 pmI've made two humongous-while-distracted type blunders at work the last two days. Nothing fatal - just stupid. We don't have a dunce cap at work - we have the whing-ding beanie - complete with propeller on top. It sat at my desk today. I had earned it.
Distracted. Well, you could call it that.
Cliff would have been 42 today. And while it is stupid and ... stupid ... to get so worked over by a random hospitalization of a total stranger, it did stick worse than cheap cellophane tape.
Maybe it's that old tuning fork thing again. You remember that analogy, right? One tuning fork vibrating can set another one off if it gets close enough?
I called Cliff's parents tonight and I got to talk to both of them. A bit of progress, I think. I am pleased to hear his sister called them today, too. Relieved.
How their son died is something one can't discuss at the dinner table. It's too horrible. Sis once said his death was one she would consider selling her soul to avoid. And she works hospice for Kaiser as a social worker.
I told the boss I was going home to get unstupid today before I left.
Just. Plain. Distracted. Stupid.
Enough already.
Oh,
shadesong? Once is a fluke, twice is a message. Time to get the flock out of Dodge. I am so sorry - but glad Max is home.
August was my month for crap -
And I want to do the taxes? Well, I can get started on them. *sigh*

That and songs. Silent Lucidity by Queensryche and Perfect Day by Roxette do it to me every time.
