Anyone near Western and Torrance Blvd missing their budgie? He's very cute and very lost. If he's still fluttering around on my way home, I'm snagging him. Looking around, I don't see many food sources for that kind of bird - he's not going to do well. Poor thing.
I think I've seen at least ten paramedic responses since I left the house this morning, just travelling to work and home and back again. Full lights and sirens. One or two, sure. When I notice them like this? I have to wonder -
Also, weather? WTF. 48 this morning, which put the house at 62 - I come home at lunch and it's 75 outside which puts the house at 72. Low tonight is going to be somewhere in the mid 40's again - and the highs are pushing the mid to high 70's. Thank you so much for the confusion. I'm toasty. Guess how much clothing I'm wearing. Good thing I can push up the sleeves.
I'm thinking red beans and rice for dinner Saturday - that, and some black-eyed peas and cornbread for Jim. IKEA meatballs and rice all day long like last year - that worked so well, I can't help but reprise it. I got some really nice veggies in the CSA box today - we'll put those out too. Apples and oranges, too. Need to think drinks. Sis wants me to bring her 6 bottles of "really good champagne, Korbel or better" - for my contribution to dinner Christmas Day. Sounds like a BevMo run.
I've been to Cost Plus during their 40% sale on holiday food. The sweets table is stocked - including turkish delight in memory of
llamajoy and
tenshi_no_korin, who I think of every time I see some (and it's getting to be a holiday tradition). I may bake something more - but when time is short, you can buy cookies and save the stress.
I may add scones, tea and coffee Saturday morning. I'm going over to fetch my friend Marian for the morning, we may as well have breakfast.
The new cell phone takes pictures - and allows texting. It also rings loud enough to hear, thankuverymuch. Merry Christmas to me - we also replaced Jim's phone as well, and it has all my new features plus FM radio. He left me a message today after he found the video function. He'd been chasing down people in the halls, happy as a lark. (He's also dealt with a cluster of migraines this week - today is his first pain-free day in about a week. I'll allow the scampering in the halls.)
