Tired

The carpet is in. The house looks like we just moved in. And chimpanzees packed the moving boxes. It's worse than after the fire in '94. I don't know where anything is. The kitchen is impassable...again. The upstairs bathroom, while the toliet works, the bathroom itself is still OOO because the baseboards and caulking aren't done yet.

Mark brought his father, Vivi, Mara (she like Megan these days, but what I learned to call you when you were 2 is what I call you when you're 12, dammit), and Gray. We packed 42 boxes in half an hour. I figure there are at least 50 boxes of books alone.

And then we ran out of boxes at 10:00 PM.

The next morning, expecting the installers to be at the house at 8:00 AM, I get Jim and I up and out to breakfast and return just in time to see them pull up - and I'm running off to find more boxes at 8:00 AM on a Saturday. I find them at Home Depot, but when I return, I find Jim in a state and the installers sitting in the parking lot looking like someone shot their dog.

They were leaving. No way could they move all that furniture...no way. WTF?

Two weeks I've been saying they need help to move all the furniture...two weeks. Books gone, but furniture still there.

I manage to talk them into doing it anyway.

And they left at 9:30 PM. Jim had to hop to the gym to get a shower and run to work at 3:00 in the afternoon - installers were lucky he was there. Being told to go to the gym to get ready for work at 3:00 PM is not nice. He had to work until 2:30AM as well. And then drive home.

But I'm there throughout. And I'm fried. We threw things into boxes willy-nilly, just to move contents to the next room while they laid carpet in that room. And then the plumber arrived to fix the leaky toliet upstairs, caulked it in and pronounced it sound. Okay, the toliet works. Whoo-hoo. The floor doesn't hurt to walk on anymore. Hoo again.

Now, if I could only find ... you name it.

Mark came back and reinstalled the entertainment center yesterday - that, and I got the downstairs bathroom finished. Go me. That's it.

We can get clean, we can sleep - and I'm at work. Jim worked both nights on Saturday and Sunday. Today, he has off and then his brother and his family is here Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm taking Wednesday off.

Wish I was a Buddhist who had a serious thing for not owning stuff instead of the conservationist packrat that I am. Oog. Just pounded a Coke with a Munch bar, chased with a bag of M & Ms. Will get lunch.
