bigbigtruck - either you're on your way out to or at JACON - but machupicchu has had to make the same decision for his cat as you just did for Bumpus earlier this year - I don't think he'll turn away any advice or support you could throw him on the subject.

I'm not the person you intended, but I'm going to respond to your friend, anyway. All male cats I've had, with one exception, had that surgery......and most lived long, healthy lives!
