Advent - Day 18
Dec. 18th, 2008 09:36 amIt's pretty obvious - but what can you use for currency instead of cash?
I clip coupons for animal rescues. No, not for the cash - I clip the coupons for all the food, treats, cat litter - what have you - and put that in the can. It's not pretty - but it's better than nothing, and Mom always said coupon cash was like getting money from home.
You can always trade a favor. (I've got this application on my Facebook right now - what it needs to work well is more things to swap with. It's pretty lean at the moment.)
Find a way to barter. Frankly, it's more work than exchanging cash (DUH, that's why we have money in the first place - it's easy), but if you don't have the folding green...but a buttload of walnuts (what IS it with the fekking WALNUTS) from the tree out back - you get the idea.
A quick Google of the concept turned up these two sites:
IMS Barter Network
Barter Bart - a barter 'auction' site. Hmm.
Trade services. Hey, I'll make you dinner if you do the dishes - simplest example at hand.
What have you got a lot of? Heck, even SOME of - that could be traded for something else?
See you tomorrow!
