So, when I looked back at 2009, I see that I did not post pictures from the fukubukuro last year.

I was sick. Oh. That was when I got to stay in bed when I got sick - right. Okay.

Well, welcome to the first holiday since March of last year where I have NOT been sick (hooray!) - both Christmas and New Years have been plague-free!

So I got up on time, got kid up on time, got us both dressed and through both Burger King and Starbucks (yum yum breakfast) and to Marukai just in time to get in line for the 200 (of each kind) lucky bags that Marukai does every New Year's Day.

I love 'em. And with kid along, getting the bags to the car was FUN - because to have hands free in a parking lot? Kid had to ride on my shoulders and hold my latte. AMUSING.

Let's check out the haul. (I was able to score two of each kind. [livejournal.com profile] kiyone is scoped out for the non-food bag, and [livejournal.com profile] catsonmars gets the food version.) But here are mine:

The non-food bag was 11.2 pounds, and the food bag was 18.8 pounds all by itself.

There were a *LOT* of cosmetics in the non-food bag this year - including my very first-ever pair of false eyelashes! (This ought to be interesting.) It also included a nodding geisha to put in the window - something I had actually wanted, but considered too silly and well, silly, to buy myself. Get it in a grab bag? OTAY!

Mmmmm. Goodies. Recognize any of this? Two things of furikake! My favorite corn doodles! A big bottle of tea - all very welcome. And a bag of rice - no wonder it was so heavy.

But one of the things caught my eye. Remember last year I said the non-food bag had contained a blue baby blanket? (Said blanket is now in his earthquake kit at school.)

This year's non-food bag had another heart-stopper. Check it:

If you can't read the box, it says "Do you like living here? Yes, it's great living here." (Those are the wee toys that come in the bath fizzies.) The non-food bag also had at least three more toys in it, and a pair of baby mittens I'm forwarding on.

I'll take it.

Gotta run to go give blood this AM - catch you later! (I WANT CURRY HOUSE TONIGHT.)
