Last year, AOD was over Valentine's Day. That's why I don't remember it that well. We wuz bizzy.

This year, not so much. And to be blunt, my mother was my first Valentine, so I'm not really stuck so much on the romance angle.

I really miss the days when I got the shoebox full of dimestore Valentines. I used to hug the pile I got. I think that ended in third grade and then I only got Valetines from my Mom.

That would be until I met Jim. Cliff thought it was a waste of money. I still loved him. (Seriously. The year he lived with his Mom because he was too sick to leave at home alone? I took a vacation day and worked delivery on Valentine's Day to earn $200. Eat my heart out? Oh sure. Want a recipe or two? I know how to make it really tasty by now, trust me.)

But in our world, Valentine's Day is the day to geek out. The wackier, the better. First year, he gave me the South Park movie and I LOVED IT - and hence, the bar was set. Last year, I think I gave him a year's subscription to a sweepstakes entering site (Won Nothing, but *shrug*), another he got a glider ride. This year? Lightsaber chopsticks. And I got my very own wii remote and Mario Kart. And a Milka bar. My boy ROCKS.

Kiddo got his first heart-shaped box of chocolate from Mommy, stickers from Daddy and plenty of 'no wii until we get home' from both of us. Dinner was at our favorite ramen place and a good time was had by all.

Now.

Someone found my favorite Super Bowl ad of all time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_MaJDK3VNE

(No, it's not from this year. Not even five years ago. LOOOONG time ago.)

What *did* EDS do? Well, they provided consulting services to do what I do for a living (EDI-involved data integration). So when I tell you I herd cats...I'm not lying. (HP took EDS some time ago. Ebil empire and all that jazz.) In short? I take UPC codes, turn them into Real Things and then back into code again...for someone else to do the same on the Other Side.

Next -

I've heard about the Kevin Smith/Southwest kerfluffle. See this completely unsurprised face. If you wish, you can go back to that lovely television series Southwest basically allowed TLC to film as an hour long 'you can have this job, it sucks' tribute to the airline and see this policy in action...over and over and over again.

I'm not saying anything other than You Knew The Job Was Dangerous When You Took It. Fair? Please.

I'm just going to point to a couple of things. One, this is one of the very few American carriers that showed a profit every year past 9/11 - and still does not ask you to pay one more cent for anything but alcoholic drinks once you've bought your ride. They flew the newest planes in the air (don't know if that's still true), and that one flight that had the landing gear fail at ONT, and brought 'em home alive and unhurt? Yup. Cockpit had over 75 years of experience in it instead of insisting they all quit at 60. Like those friendly skies people.

I've still got stock in the company. It's performing nearly as well as my Apple stock. Say that about another carrier, and it's like one very much like it. (JetBlue, Virgin, hello?)

And you know what I have to say about losing the weight. Not a damn thing fair about it, and your princess is in another castle if that's what you were expecting to hear.

And damn, DON'T READ THE COMMENTS. There they be dragons. And trolls. Really really.
