Quit trying to sell me. I know what you're doing, you're not fooling me - I gained my experience at the hands of people far fouler than you (and they were smarter too) so don't get your hopes up.

You're not out of trouble. I'm just not paying as much attention to you right now.

(If you think this is directed at you, you probably have a guilty conscience. My friends get TOLD when they fuck up. People sniffing around trying court favors when they really should be cleaning up their own messes really get on my last nerve.)

...

Oh, the things I could say. You have no idea.

It's Thursday again, isn't it? There's something about getting used to them, isn't there.

I'm probably one of the few parents with this problem - speak up if you have it too - but I can't bribe my kid with treats. There is no real guarantee that a cookie is going to do it for you. Fruit snacks are a GREAT way to ensure non-compliance; he HATES them.

Valentine's Day and Easter have been rather interesting as a result. I've had to make concerted efforts to get the treats eaten. And yes, I've had to sort everything into 'will eat' and 'won't eat' piles prior. The 'will eat' pile is small and largely made of chocolate. Chocolate is on the banned list for preschool, along with peanut butter - so.

The piles gather dust.

What works better? Pokemon and spiked hair. Fifteen minutes with Dad and the DS and you're golden. Want him to chew up that vitamin in the morning? Threaten to leave without getting his hair combed Just So.

The current favorite subject for shirts is anything with sharks on them. I need to find a place to hang a full-length mirror and provide some costumes; he'd dig it. I get told on a regular basis what he'd like to be for Halloween, and the list of choices grows continually. No reason we can't do something about that now, neh? And think of what it would do for being able to pick and dress himself for the future - which is looming.

Time to start thinking about swimming lessons again. It's gotten rather toasty the last two days.

Stuff around the house makes me sigh - the back house is definitely falling down around our ears - what I said was coming about, is. I wanted to take it down under more controlled circumstances...all the rain we got sealed the deal. By the end of this year, it's coming down one way or the other. So there's another major project on the docket.

Somewhere, I'm going to find some me time. Don't hold your breath.
