Texas is a full day's drive from north to south, and a LONG full day's drive from east to west. There's a reason for the old doggerel that goes:

"The sun has riz, The sun has set,
And here we is In Texas yet!"

I remember hearing about how long Tennessee is when you are traveling it from East to West - California isn't very wide, when you come right down to it, but sheesh, is it long!

Did the mad dash across the panhandle back in 2000 when we moved Jim out here - and I've been sent to Dallas on three occasions on business (bleak, I tell you. Plano is one of the bleakest places I know...nothing grew above my knee).

I can strike up a conversation with anyone over the Dallas airport and what to do when the tram between the terminals break down. Go flag down the rental car bus!
