Hello there -
Jul. 14th, 2004 08:58 pmYes, it's so nifty Jim works for a union. And it has benefits that go with paying those dues every paycheck!
Like, oh, "free" AD&D insurance.
The agents just left.
Every time I do this, I am sternly reminded that I know More Than I Should about these things...have done them way too often...and that I have not had the Normal Life Experiences for someone my age.
But hey, share the love. Who's going to turn down free coverage? Best part? They're allowing us to give it to three people in addition to ourselves.
No additional cost. To them, or us. (
silverkun,
ceolyn, you're two of the three - if they ask you to upgrade, tell them no and then tell me so I can kick their asses. I will, too.)
Nobody in their early 40's should know everything there is to know about cashing in a life insurance policy. Or how long COBRA lasts - unless you qualify for Medicare - or what plans are available to cover your ass when NOTHING ELSE WILL...~*DOOOM*~
Bitch, please. Don't try to sell me a permanent policy that will only have $2,500 in additional value at maturity. I could do better leaving it in the bank, thank you please drive though now plzkthx. Or just spending those premiums on - gee - plane tickets or suchlike. La Vida LOCA!!!!
Dearlings, it's $1,000 if someone kills your on the freeway. For nothing.
Oh, if you don't count an evening of hearing about actuarial tables and kaka. They were sweet, too.
But I didn't do anything else this evening. I COULD HAVE BEEN WRITING SMUT DAMMIT.
Or attacking the office like I wanted.
Oh, and if you're not reading
theferrett, shame on you.

Date: 2004-07-15 03:04 am (UTC)But, I have to admit that my mind at first read AD&D as Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, geek that I am... And then back in the recesses of my mind, the part of my mindvoice that is my father's pragmatism said, "Accidental Death & Dismemberment, silly."

Date: 2004-07-15 07:21 am (UTC)Dungeons and Dragons bored me senseless when I was 19. I could turn out fifty pages of bad prose for the same amount of time I spent trying to game - so I gave it up, long ago.
And then I got into college and discovered the geeks who programmed their calculators to do all the melee battles and was vindicated.
I love Neverwinter Nights - I keep the "dice rolls" window open on the botttom and chortle mightily.

*ahems* Sorry. It's just of all the people I know you are usually the last one to rank on the list of those bitching at the lost opportunity to write smut.
Moving along now...I need coffee.

Date: 2004-07-15 11:20 am (UTC)Go figure! I am also addicted to Neverwinter Nights,
been having a really good time with my Half-Ork Monk.
Anyway where was I going...shit...I hate it when the
bus leaves w/o me. Rolls eyes, it'll come back or
not...
BTW: I turn 40 next wendsday, I will officially no longer
be 30-something. I mourn the days of my youth. Taps foot,
nope that bus just ain't coming, oh well.
EVIL OUT, YO!!!! [white boy poorly attmepting to be hip...]
Crawls into cave and pulls rock over entrance.
Later.

Re: Hmmmm
Date: 2004-07-15 12:44 pm (UTC)as I used to do. The past is a guide, not a destination
any longer, if that makes any sense. I have let go of
many regrets and just try to make the best of it.
