Drop in on [livejournal.com profile] lostboycomics. It's awfully cute.

There are political conventions going on. I remember watching them on television back when there were only three channels and they were televising coverage on every LAST ONE OF THEM AUUUUUGH - but it looked like one big party. Balloons, confetti, noise makers, the works.

Except they were deadly dull when they started talking - and there was no cake and ice cream. And they were yelling at each other a lot.

Mom said to ignore most of what went on during the conventions. I'd have to say she's still dead in the black.

I hear Clinton was a showstopper - again - yesterday. I hope I get to hear it; good, bad or indifferent, he is one of the best speakers walking upright these days. You want to hear an example of good public speaking, watch him. One of the worst public speakers? His wife.

So glad they're on the opposite coast from me. The Dems held theirs here the last time, and it turned the Staples Center into Gilligan's gulag. I can only imagine what New York must be like right now.

Enjoy the ride!

I worked in Downtown LA in 2000. During the convention, we had to take some drastic measures, since the office was at Wilshire and Fig... so... I know.

Oh, and they're in *Boston*, not NYC. The GOP will be in NYC in about 4 weeks, trying to take advantage of the perception that they "own 9/11".

*nods* Yup, knew that. Dems in Boston, Repubs in NYC. All the same hoopla.

Except that you're more likely to hear profanity if the speaker is Republican. "Get stuffed" is not "Get fucked."

Actually, New York is pretty quiet, as the Dems are in Boston. :) *smooches*

Clinton's speech was excellent. Hillary's was okay. I heard Gore was a barn-burner, but I missed it to listen to the goddamn city council instead.

Actually, I understand NYC is beginning to resemble a semi-bad SF movie from a few years ago. I dunno - who is winning the war of paranoia? The Dems in Boston or the Repubs in NYC?

The GOP convention isn't until the end of August. Got to capitalize on the anniversary, of course.

I do believe I shall not leave the house.

*nods* The compare and contrast factor is working overtime.
