I so terribly need to tell some people to get stuffed. Or will tell them to get stuffed. Or maybe "get stuffed" is going to turn into a catchphrase...real soon.

Got most of the "group" critical tasks complete yesterday - but not all of them, which means we still have work to do.

There is a trip to IKEA in my future.

And the "who told what to whom" games are already tuning up as my family circles the wagons....*face palms.*

I have some baggage coming into this, of course.

I've never dealt with kidney disease as a result of anything but diabetes, but I'm plenty familiar with measuring kidney function as a whole. This diagnosis answers some questions - Mom's function had been getting dickey for about nine months now. She's been managing her prescription meds more closely - it was actually this cancer doing the damage.

This is the second time we've attributed a change due to her age, and it actually had a real, treatable cause. The first time, it was cardiac occlusion - and she ended up with a heart attack. *sighs*

I lost a spouse after five years of chronic, disabling illness. I really don't want to do that again.

Also, if anyone hasn't seen Mom's Cancer, you should. I'm sure I'll be sharing the link a lot more in the next couple of weeks.

I'm okay. I'm sure everything is going to be all right.

Oh, and if that doesn't suit you - get stuffed.

I need an icon.

Yuck. I'm sorry to hear about your mother's illness. Lots of good thoughts your way and hers.

I'm going through a family crisis too, right now--*not* illness, thank goodness--but something I'd hoped wouldn't ever happen again and which promises to cause lots of chaos, disruption, and misery, so I feel for ya.

Wow...that's exactly what happened to Trudy, and for the exact same reasons. Only the same agressive treatments didn't work for her. She passed a scant two months and two weeks after she was diagnosed.

I won't know for certain until I get to talk with the doctor providing care - and likely not until surgery time. Maybe Sis has - I dunno.

From what little I've got - the only real risk is losing parts of the bladder - in most cases, you don't even do that.

There are virulent, aggressive forms of bladder cancer - but this one shows no signs of being any of them. I'd rate the odds of this being life threatening at less than 25% - and that's being generous. Most of the literature is 2 - 10% of all cases.

Holding onto that - I'd like to see Mom turn 80.

Which IKEA are you planning to go to?

I'm planning to be at the one in Burbank this coming Sunday to buy more tealights and other things.

Well, that and meet up for lunch with another friend. =)

*HUGS*

Hang in there!

C.

Dealing with a parent's illness sucks great big rocks - I'll be holding your mom in the Light (my version of praying for recovery) - and you and Uncle Jimbo, too, as I can imagine this is straining you both.
