I found that link [livejournal.com profile] murphymom found me in -

I think this proves I've given this more than a moment's thought, neh?

Begining a family over 40 is running neck and neck with Tit Envy - and I'm surprised. I thought the tits would be a runaway -

EDIT: Also, I think it's important to note that no matter where you stand on the kid issue - to decide to have children or to be childfree - there is always some asshole who's standing there ready to toss a roach in your milk.

Get a dog, indeed. I HAD THE DOG.

It's actually very rare that tits run away. They may bounce, wobble, perk or flop, but they don't generally run away.

I knew a friend of a friend who went the route you'd be thinking. I'm not sure I would have done that had I not gotten remarried.

But I had Alan at age 40. No regrets about that (just very lucky that it worked naturally for us.)

Yeesh, what a maroon, that Bill guy. 38 is not to old to have a baby! Ok, at 48 (my age) you might want to adopt but it's still not too late if it's what you want to do!

Considering what pregnancy can do for breast growth (albeit temporary), it might always be a tie! :-)

However, I read that thread, and the dog comment was mean and rude.

When my Mom remarried in 1980 she was 40 and so wanted to have a child with my step Dad...It didn't matter to her that he already had 6 kids and she has 4...She loves him that much she would of had a child with him.
Had she not had her tubes tied after my sister was born, there would be 11 of us, maybe 12 who knows...

Now days lots of women are starting families after they turn 40...I think it's great!

See, I have tit envy of my own, so while I relate, it's not *as* interesting to me as that whole adopting thing.

Apparently back in 1974 having a kid at 30 was pretty astonishing. (For a woman giving birth, anyway.)

And I think you'll make a wonderful mother, and with your man, a wonderful family.

Well, I am going through a lot of this agonzing and trying-to-decide stuff too ... and I'm single, almost 45, and I have no parents and no siblings to help me out should I go the single-parent route. It would just be Me. And. The. Kid.

I started counseling, but then I lost my job, and my counselor has been prodding me to go get a job before I do anything else in terms of a family.

Meanwhile, the menstrual cycles tick away....

scary...

been kinda thinking about the same thing which is really really strange.

but, I've got a lot more thinking to do and a little bit of life to arrange before I even start to go that route.

Kids.
