The Week Between
Sep. 10th, 2004 06:17 pmPaydays. It's the Friday a week from next Payday Friday, where I take stock and see how well we're doing, going into the last seven days of the pay period.
I like my AMEX card, yes I do. I can use it, but I have to pay it off every month and it keeps me honest, yes it does.
It also keeps me from completely losing it when something ships from Amazon unexpectedly. I have a shitpot on pre-order. All the time.
Busy, productive day and I even got to the farmer's market with the boss today - bonus! (Baugettes and soup for dinner - that worked!)
I'm finding candle wax in the darndest places.
I should use Pocky as currency. *chuckles* The game is still afoot, but I'm quickly discovering that if I hurry, I screw up more often - so be patient. I'll get there.
Getting honked at last night reminded me of standing out in front of NBC back in '93, ruining a shooting day for Days of Our Lives over the cancellation of Quantum Leap. Thank God it's a good memory - didn't do squat else.
We got honked at a LOT.
Last night, too. We had one fellow walk into the middle of our group and start yelling at us - in hindsight, I think he just wanted a fight. The moment the cell phones came out, he shut up and left. I'm still shaking my head. Ratty t-shirt, shorts, cheap-ass zori sandals and it looked like he had gone out to fetch his dinner (KFC) - was he drunk, stoned or otherwise incapacitated?
The power of one person - him, I remember the most clearly. I think I was taller.
HSN contacted me today - signing off until they're able to get back to their offices after Ivan goes through. Shutting the eff down - complete. I told my counterpart to keep his head down and let me know what happens. Freaky.
Tomorrow, I plan to bake some cakes and deliver them to my local firehouses and police stations. And thank them for taking such good care of us this year.
And that's all I think is needed.
Dead is dead. Dead is forever. That's the truest reality.
